Principal’s Report: 17/5/12

Multicultural Day
On Friday 25th of May we will be holding a Multicultural Day at our school to celebrate Education Week and to fit in with our theme of the Olympic Games and the countries of the world. All students are encouraged to dress in the multicultural theme. The costumes will be on display at an assembly and parade at 3:00 pm. The Parents Club is providing a special lunch with a multicultural flavour. The cost is only $6.00 per child to taste a range of foods. Forms have been sent home. Forms and money need to be returned by Friday 18th May 2012.

NAPLAN Tests
The NAPLAN tests have been completed. They are now sent off to Melbourne to be marked and the results will be available sometime in September. I know that our students worked hard on the tests and did their best.

Student Teachers
We are very fortunate to have a bunch of student teachers at our school from Victoria University at the moment. The first year student teachers are running the Kinda Kinder program on Tuesday mornings and then assisting in the classrooms on Tuesday afternoons. The two 2nd year students are developing programs for our school on Tuesdays as well.

Principal’s Report: Anzac Day (26/4/12)

The Anzac Day ceremony was held at Sunbury yesterday. There was a great turnout for the day considering it was cold and wet. The march took place in the light drizzle. Students from our school attended the ceremony representing different groups including the scouts, football club and the school itself. Our school wreath was presented by Daniel S and Rianna. It is great to see so many families and community groups supporting our history and heritage on this special occasion.

Principal’s Report: Term 2 Begins (19/4/12)

Welcome back for the new school term. Term 1 was a very busy term with the school camp, excursions, athletics sports and many other activities. Coming up this term we have the NAPLAN tests for our grade 3 and 5 students as well as Education Week activities. Our senior students have some major sports events coming up this term – cross country and winter sports against other schools.
